WMSRDC is responsible for the management and administration of the homeland security program for the counties of Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, and Ottawa. As the designated fiduciary, the Regional Commission is the grantee for all homeland security grants.

WMSRDC provides management and administrative services to the Region 6 Homeland Security Planning Board. It also conducts homeland security planning as assigned by the Board.
