Who We Are

The WMSRDC is a federal and state designated regional planning and development agency serving 127 local governments in Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, and northern Ottawa Counties.

Did you know . . .

Sandeep Dey, executive director of the Regional Commission, received the Walter Scheiber Award in June of 2003, given annually by the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) to an executive director who has exhibited high standards in the operation of a regional council.
In 2006, Sandeep Dey was awarded the Johnie Rodebush Regional Leadership Award by the Michigan Association of Regions (MAR) for excellence in regional leadership in the State of Michigan.
The Regional Commission celebrated its 35th anniversary in the year 2005.
The Regional Commission serves the Michigan counties of Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.
In 2003, Northern Ottawa County was added to the Regional Commission's MPO Program.
Over 300 homes have been repaired in Muskegon County through the Regional Commission's home repair programs since the program began over 20 years ago.
Annually approximately 100 information requests are processed through the Regional Commission's West Michigan Information Center.
85 percent of residents surveyed are aware of Ozone Action! Days due to the cooperative efforts of the Regional Commission's Ozone Action! Program and the West Michigan Clean Air Coalition.
The Regional Commission continues to host a series of regional forums developed to help local communities learn more about pertinent planning subjects.
Numerous Regional Commission programs have won various national and state awards. Most recently awarded is the It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air Door Hanger Campaign.

Office of Executive Director

Sean is responsible for the management and direction of all Commission programs and operations; is the liaison to federal, state, and local governments and the general public; and reports to the governing board.

Mary Seeger, Executive Assistant

Mary is responsible for assisting the executive director, managing the Federal Project Review System, and providing other services for the administrative and financial management of the Commission.

Synthia Copeland, Administrative Assistant

Syndi is responsible for providing general assistance and information to the public, administrative support for the technical planning staff and coordinating Commission publications.

Finance and Budget

Susan Stine-Johnson, Finance Manager

Susan is responsible for the financial management of the Commission operation, preparation and maintenance of the budget, and administration of the benefits program.

Information and Communications/Air Quality Planning

Amy Haack, Program Manager

Amy is responsible for the Commission's data center, communications tools (newsletter, annual report, and website), regional forums, and management of the air quality planning program.

Homeland Security

Nan is responsible for the management and administration of the homeland security program, hazard mitigation planning, housing information and referral service, and other special projects of the Commission

"Commission Communications" Newsletter

"Commission Communications" is the bi-monthly newsletter of the West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission. Every issue is chock-full of information related to the activities of the Regional Commission as well as world wide topics that are relayed through the special "global trends" article appearing in each issue.

Directions to the West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission:
316 Morris Avenue (Terrace Plaza in Downtown Muskegon)

From the North:

Take U.S. 31 South into Muskegon
Take the Business 31 Downtown Muskegon exit
Stay on Business 31 for approximately 3 miles
Turn right onto Terrace Street
Stay on Terrace Street for approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into the Terrace Plaza Parking Lot
The office is located on the third floor of Terrace Plaza

From the South:

Take U.S. 31 North into Muskegon
Take the Business 31 Downtown Muskegon exit
Stay on Business 31 for approximately 5 miles
Turn left onto Terrace Street
Stay on Terrace Street for approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into the Terrace Plaza Parking Lot
The office is located on the third floor of Terrace Plaza

From the East:

Take 96 West into Muskegon

96 West Turns into Business 31 near Muskegon

Stay on Business 31 for approximately 5 miles
