The Region 6
Homeland Security Governing Board’s Training Committee is responsible
for planning and developing a policy for training and providing a forum to
deliver training to emergency
preparedness council personnel, emergency operations center staff,
governmental agencies, 1st responders, and other emergency
services partners throughout Region 6.
The training is for “all hazards” emergency response
requirements needed for natural disasters and specialized requirements
related to terrorism.
The
Training Committee has developed a Regional Training Plan and Procedures
Policy for Region 6 that covers the training budget, training request
process, authorized reimbursable expenses, approval process, and
scheduling. The West Michigan
Shoreline Regional Development Commission has also recruited a Training
Coordinator who coordinates training for the Training Committee. The
Regional Training Plans and Procedures Policy is practical and flexible
enough to accommodate a wide range of required training throughout Region
6. All training activities are
cleared through the Training Committee and the Michigan State Police
Emergency Management/Homeland Security Division.
The
training that is being provided through this program supports all emergency
personnel in Region 6 and is consistent with the Federal & State
Homeland Security Strategy, making Region 6 a safer place to live.
