The Region 6 Homeland Security Planning Board’s Capability Improvement Sub-Committee is primarily responsible for assessing capability and equipment needs to determine interoperability, lifecycle planning and on-going training to improve regional capabilities in prevention, protection, response, or recovery. The sub-committee also works to enhance explosive response capabilities and ensure responders have assets, skills and plans for effective response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) incident, including attacks by an improvised explosive device (IED).
This committee will include work groups that address (i) interoperability of communications and narrowband compliance, (ii) law enforcement outputs under the Homeland Security Grant Program guidelines, and (iii) specialized teams that address areas such as IED/CBRNE (Bomb Squad), Regional Response Teams (RRT), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR), and Incident Management Teams (IMT).
